Gas prices in Utah are below the national average, which is increasing, according to AAA.
The average price for gas in the U.S. is $2.251 per gallon–three cents up from last week.
The average price in Utah is $2.188. That’s down from a week ago when the price was $2.207 and a month ago with $2.289. AAA reports that Utah charged $2.717 per gallon at this time last year.
Only a handful of other states have low prices like Utah.
AAA states that rising crude oil prices and tightening supply are contributing to the increase in prices nationwide. However, overall demand remains extremely low as people continue to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
AAA believes this will impact gas prices, making them cheaper in January.
