A Greek-operated oil tanker has been broken by a mine explosion close to a Saudi port within the Purple Sea, native authorities have confirmed. The incident is suspected to stem from Riyadh’s protracted warfare with Yemen rebels.
Saudi authorities confirmed on Wednesday {that a} Maltese-flagged oil tanker sustained minor injury following an “assault” at a Purple Sea port.
The vessel’s operator, Athens-based transport firm TMS Tankers, stated in a press release that the ‘Agrari’ suffered a breach after it was struck one meter above the waterline whereas in berth at al-Shuqaiq, Saudi Arabia.
TMS Tankers stated the assault occurred at midnight GMT, after the vessel’s cargo was discharged and it was getting ready to depart.
The corporate added that the supply of the assault was unknown to them.The operator stated that no air pollution had been reported from the incident.
A report by the maritime safety agency Ambrey stated a magnetic mine was probably used to trigger the injury. No accidents had been reported from the blast.
