He will work alongside interim chief executive Beverley Smith until he becomes chief executive in mid-September
Hurricane Energy Plc (LON:HUR) has named Anthony Maris as its new executive director, and chief executive designate.
Maris, in his most recent role, was chief operating officer at PLC (previously SOCO International PLC) from 2012 to early 2020.
In this previous role Maris was responsible for the development and operation of several oilfields.
He will work alongside interim chief executive Beverley Smith before assuming the CEO role following the release of interim financial results in mid-September.
“I am very pleased to report that Antony Maris has agreed to assume the chief executive role at Hurricane,” the company’s chairman Steven McTiernan said in a statement.
“His leadership record with entrepreneurial oil and gas companies, and importantly his technical experience and knowledge of the behaviour of fractured basement reservoirs, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Hurricane.”
