KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 66,189 tonnes of cargo comprising 51,320 tonnes of import cargo and 14,869 tonnes of export cargo including 1,692 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 51,320 tonnes comprised of 14,793 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,790 tonnes of canola bulk cargo and 31,737 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 14,869 tonnes comprised of 3,186 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,743 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,940 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 1,692 containers comprising of 1,139 containers of import and 553 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 205 of 20’s and 405 of 40’s loaded while 54 of 20’s and 35 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 42 of 20’s and nil of 40’s loaded containers while 419 of 20’s and 46 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Manet, MT Lahore and MT Bolan carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Ever Ursula, Coral Star, Wieland, MT Shalamar and Merakils carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Coral Star carrying containers expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are three ships namely Celsius Montreal, BW Eagle and Liberty Peace carrying chemical, mogas and vehicle respectively expected to arrive on Tuesday, while another vessel viz. Chembulk Jakarta carrying oil tanker is expected to arrive on Wednesday.
A cargo volume of 148,608 tonnes comprising of 138,633 tonnes of import cargo and 9,975 tonnes of export cargo including 1,057 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 138,633 tonnes includes 48,558 tonnes of coal; 31,480 tonnes of LNG; 770 tonnes of LPG; 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 23,717 tonnes of diesel oil; 18,500 tonnes of soyabean and 10,108 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 9,975 tonnes includes 9,975 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,057 containers comprising of 532 containers import and 525 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely MSC Himanshi, MSC Bremen, Lusail and Concovada carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely Al-Adaliah and Asia Aspara carrying diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten vessels viz. Express Athens, Han Hui, HC Jetti Marit, Filia Glory, Lito, Inspiration, Jipro Neftis, Hafnia Arctic, Bei Hai and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were eight ships viz. Maersk Pittsburgh, MSC Albany, MSC Ludovica, Han Hui, HC Jetti Marit, Filia Glory, Hafnia Arctic and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, rice, coal, diesel oil and palm oil oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely Maersk Pittsburgh, MSC Albany and MSC Ludovica carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
